Where do these prices come from?
From each hospital’s own machine-readable price file, which federal law requires them to publish. See data sources.
Are these the exact prices I’ll pay?
No. They are medians of published amounts, meant for comparison. Your actual cost depends on your insurance, the specific services performed, and the hospital’s current rates. Always get a written estimate.
Why is the cash price sometimes lower than the insurance price?
It can be. Hospitals set self-pay/cash prices independently of insurer-negotiated rates. If you have a high deductible, paying cash is occasionally cheaper — ask both ways.
What is the chargemaster price?
The hospital’s full list price before any discount. It is rarely what anyone actually pays. See our price guide.
How current is the data?
We refresh hospital files periodically. Prices can change at any time, so confirm with the hospital before care.
Is this medical or financial advice?
No. This site is for general information only. Confirm prices and coverage with the hospital and your insurer.
